I've got a 2GHz AMD Athlon XP 2400 desktop computer, with two 1Gig 2700 RAM modules. I
just tried upgrading the CPU like I've done dozens of times before on other computers.
Well, I think my luck has run out because even when I put the original CPU back in,, the
system won't boot. Powers on, fans run, but the LCD monitor disappoints me by refusing
to do anything, and it doesn't appear that the hard drive is doing anything. (It's
ironic that I have done this so many times for other people. but doing it on my own
working system I get to experience the panic of FUBAR.)

After an hour of re-seating everything, checking connectors, etc. I'm saddened to
realize this mother board has bit the big one. (Its an outdated Shuttle AK32V.).

It is (was?) a daily-work Windows XP Pro computer so I must get it up and running ASAP.
It's Wednesday night so I need to quickly find a new system on Thursday morning. I'm
assuming I won't be lucky enough to find my exact, outdated motherboard. I'd like to
save some money by moving my RAM and graphics card (Radeon HD 2600 Pro) to the new
system.

Can anyone recommend the best way to move my WinXP hard drive (formatted NTFS) to a new
motherboard so that Windows XP will be happy? Do I need to go with an AMD motherboard?
How do I do this safely and quickly? How do I get Windows XP to safely recognize the new
system???

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks!!!

My old XP Pro has five drives in it. One is EIDE and you what the rest are. I
have a problem where the IRQ count goes through the roof, but it is only on
drive events. I have seen it do it during a speedisk but that is rare. It
doesn't seem to matter which drives are in use. I think it is most common
during the back up of my main drive. Got to use those other drives for
something, may as well use them for backups. Or it can happen on some other
high I/O disk event. The main drive only has twenty-some Gig on it so it is
not a process that should go on for hours. But sometimes it does. I came in
the other morning and it said it was about half done but had seven hours to
go. SO I checked the Process Explorer (nice program) and sure enough, the
Interrupt process was chewing up nearly all the CPU time.

Generally once it gets into this mode it stays that way for a while. I mean
I can kill the backup but then try to copy some large file from one drive to
another and the interrupts will go nuts again. After combing through the MS
site for half a day I decided that the acpi dot sys file is the correct one
and so is the HAL dot DLL. And it is completely inconsistent. I can open up
the machine, tweak the cables and what not, and have it still crazy. Or it
might work just fine.

Today I rebooted it and I think I turned it off. All things that I have
tried previously. It was still acting up so I left it alone for a while. It
would go on the Net with no problem and so I just quit fighting it. Some
hours later I noticed that it was doing one of its auto speedisk things and
there were some interrupts but it was zero to three, maybe four. So right now
I might be able to do a backup with it and have it fly through.

Has anyone else had any strange IRQ happenings like this? The machine is on
all the time so it is not like something is overheating and then cooling off.
But I am running out of ideas on this. Appreciate any comments or suggestions.

what is new component service in Microsoft windows xp professional service
pack 2 2007 dell inc p/n jy011 compared with Microsoft windows xp
professional service pack 2 2005 dell inc p/n jd153 ?

The reason of my question is that;

If I install Dell OS service pack 2 2005 in our company computer, users do
not have problem with I.E browser to interconnect with Oracle
Jinitiator.(click opening Jinitiator different session several times , it
causes no problem)

But If I install Dell OS sevice pack 2 2007 in some computers, user have a
problem with I.E browser to interconnect with Oracle Jinitiator;

(click opening Jinitiator different session several times , it causes I.E
browser hung but if user opens one session oracle Jinitiator, it works fine.

but If user closes first session oracle Jinitiator and go to another session
oracle Jinitiator, IE browser was hung)

error message-two item remaining and I.E brower was hung. we have to force
it to close.

once again, Dell OS service pack 2 2005 does not cause any problem. would
you mind tell me what is big difference between OS service pack 2 2007 and OS
service pack 2 2005?

also would you mind find which component service cause this kind problem?
